SPECSIZER

Cat® Electric Power SpecSizer

SpecSizer is a free, PC software tool that allows users to select the most appropriately sized diesel generator set for virtually any electric power project. Users can size for their power needs with generator sets as small as 14KW or as large as 4000KW, and the SpecSizer tool can parallel up to 25 generator sets. Users input the details of the on-site power required including voltage, load demand, load types, duty application, maximum ambient temperature, altitude, EPA emissions and more. As a result, this software tool allows users to determine a truly customized and comprehensive power solution. SpecSizer is also equipped with features such as the 20-Step Wizard tool that uses program logic to calculate the smallest possible generator set along with the least number of load scenario steps, which provides an optimal rating and footprint that minimizes costs. SpecSizer allows users to make load step changes to any user-defined criteria on the load scenario tab to assess possible sizing results. The SpecSizer software has revolutionized generator set sizing by simplifying the process. Not only does it include filtering processes to align the generator set selection with available options, it also provides web links and tools, such as volts/hertz optimization, percent of intermittent motors, and percent genset capacity used (EkW) to help with analytical and strategic decisions. One of the web links even provides the precise spec sheet you need for your job specification.

Its easy-to-use interface, called VisionLink™, enables customized health and utilization reports, and mapping and mixed fleet capabilities. And Product Link transmits the information via cell and satellite. Product Link connects customers to our world-class dealer network. Product Link gets you accurate, timely and useful information about the location, utilization and condition of your equipment—the kind of information that can make a huge difference in the efficiency and costs of your entire operation. Remote Services

CAT® REMOTE SERVICES

SAVE TIME & MONEY ON SOFTWARE UPDATES & TROUBLESHOOTING

Keep downtime to a minimum, eliminate unnecessary service trips to your sites and speed up repairs with Cat® Remote Services. All you need to take advantage of these time- and money-saving tools is Cat Product Link™ hardware installed on your equipment.* Cat Remote Services include:

 

  • Remote Flash allows Caterpillar and/or a Cat dealer to send most Electronic Control Module (ECM) updates directly to your equipment from any location — no site visit necessary. (Requires PLE631 or PLE641 hardware.)
  1. The dealer determines when new software is required and authorizes Remote Flash
  2. Software is downloaded to the equipment while it’s still in operation.
  3. The customer then initiates the software to be installed on the individual equipment control modules.
    NOTE: For Oil & Gas applications, customer must be within 75m of equipment to initiate the software update.
  4. The customer is notified and the Install complete.

  • Remote Troubleshoot lets Caterpillar and/or a Cat dealer establish a remote connection to your equipment and perform most Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) tasks from afar. A Cat dealer expert will view the asset’s data in near real time and determine if there is an issue. If a site visit for repair is required, your Cat dealer will have the information necessary to send the right technician, the right tools and the right parts on the first trip — reducing your repair costs and downtime.
  1. Customer calls the dealer to report an issue with the equipment.
  2. The dealer technician initiates a Remote Troubleshoot session, accessing live equipment diagnostics information, and remotely identifies problems.
  3. If required, the technician arrives on site to carry out the repair, with the correct parts in hand.
  4. Equipment is operating at full efficiency with minimal downtime

My.Cat.Com allows you to access all of your equipment data in one place with one logon so you can have easy access to important information about your fleet anywhere you go. You’ll have the option to access select data and applications from other Caterpillar sources like VIsionLink®, S•O•SSM Services Web and Parts.Cat.Com. With VisionLink, for example, you’ll see high-level data about hours, location and events on the My.Cat.Com dashboard. The Cat App provides notifications about upcoming indicators based on machine operating hours so you can plan service when it doesn’t affect your production. (Don’t worry — you can customise what fault codes, alerts or machine operating conditions you want to know about, so you won’t be overwhelmed by notifications.) Then you can use the app to request service from your dealer — in some regions, auto-filled location and machine information can save you even more time and effort. Planning to do the work yourself?
